Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Stimulus Information

OSSE’s Award Amount: $2.6 million

Grant Type: Formula/Competitive

Purpose: To assist low-income families with child care and to support the development of child care programs and policies that best support the District; promote parental choice; to provide consumer education materials to assist parents in making informed choices; assist in helping parents to achieve independence from public assistance; and assist the District in implementing health, safety, licensing and registration standards established in the District of Columbia.

Proposed Activities:

  1. Serving children and their families by:
    • Providing child care services to low-income families
    • Increasing child care provider payments
  2. Investing in quality initiatives:
    • Expanding child care provider training and professional development opportunities
  3. Investing in infrastructure systems:
    • Upgrading and enhancement of child care IT database system
