Policy, Research and Analysis

Policy, Research and Analysis (PR&A) seeks to improve the knowledge base of citizens and policymakers about public education in the District of Columbia. Our goal is to become the premier research and policy center on public education in the District, respected and known for objective and reliable basic information on our schools as well as emerging trends and best practices.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) conducts its own research and invites or commissions local and national experts to conduct occasional research, prepare policy papers, analyses and reports. These documents inform the public, support school improvement, and stimulate public discussion and debate on educational issues.

PR&A produces reports and informational papers in response to legislative requirements and on topics of relevance to policymakers and the public; creates opportunities through meetings and public forums for education stakeholders to explore topics and resolve cross-cutting policy issues; and provides outreach on education information and policy issues to policymakers, practitioners and the public.  To learn more about PR&A, select from the topics below.
