Lisa Raymond has dedicated her career to improving the lives of others through direct assistance, advocacy, and program development, and has over 14 years of experience in the field of education.  She attended public school in Connecticut and Indiana and first moved to the District in 1993.  Lisa has worked for various public policy and direct service organizations, including the National Women’s Health Network, the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National Parenting Association, and the Urban Institute, focusing on the areas of family violence, child welfare, poverty, and women’s health.

As one of the original leaders of the Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy, Lisa helped build the school from 60 students in 1998 to a thriving system that currently serves 1,100 students on two campuses.  She served as the school’s first Public Policy Director, Chief of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.

Lisa has taught and volunteered in schools in the District, New York City, Israel, and England.  She has also served as a consultant to traditional public and charter schools in New York City.  She received a B.A. in psychology from Indiana University and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.  She lives on Capitol Hill with her husband, Joshua, and her two-year old twins, Henry and Lucy.
